The challenge
Funables sells toys on bol.com in the Netherlands and Belgium: LEGO, PLAYMOBIL, Nerf, board games and more. Dozens of sellers often offer the same products, and the big toy shops change their prices several times a day.
Keeping up by hand is impossible. React too late and you lose the buy box; drop too far and you sell at a loss. Funables wanted sharp prices without ever going below its own cost price.
What Funables set up
- The shop connected through the official bol Retailer API.
- Cost prices that arrive automatically every hour from the supplier feed.
- One pricing rule: just below the cheapest competitor, at most one change per product per hour.
- A floor price that moves with the cost price, including VAT and bol commission.
- Switched live on 9 October 2026 for 1,555 products.
The result after 19 days
In 19 days Offerboxer made 4,993 price changes confirmed by bol, on 1,357 different products. That is more than 260 a day: work nobody can do by hand.
Notably, slightly more than half of those changes went up. As soon as a competitor got more expensive or sold out, Funables’ price followed upwards. That is how the estimated margin rose from 11.6% to 23.4% of revenue.
On 74.9% of its offers Funables is the cheapest seller, within its own floor price.
Measured on 27 October 2026 in the “Results since live” screen and the dashboard of Offerboxer: the 19 days after going live on 9 October compared with the 19 days before. Margin is the estimated contribution (revenue minus purchase cost and bol commission) divided by shipped revenue, over sales with a known cost price. Revenue and buy box share were lower in that period than in the 19 days before: with its floor price Funables chose margin over volume. This is a descriptive comparison; season and assortment play a part too.
With more than 1,500 toys on bol you can no longer keep up with prices by hand. Offerboxer follows the competition all day, but always above the floor price we set ourselves. Since going live we clearly keep more per sale.
